N = 2 supersymmetric Yang-Mills Theory

چکیده
In this final project, we will report our understanding of Seiberg Witten theory [1][2]. The low energy effective theory of N = 2 supersymmetric Yang-mill theory has a non-trivial quantum moduli space. And the structure of the moduli space can be exactly determined by the property near the singularities of the moduli space. This theory also provide a example for electric-magnetic duality. In the first four section, we discuss pure gauge theory. In the last section, we briefly discuss gauge theory with matter.

We review the generalization of the work of Seiberg and Witten on N = 2 supersymmetric SU (2) Yang-Mills theory to SU (n) gauge groups. The quantum moduli spaces of the effective low energy theory parametrize a special family of hyperelliptic genus n−1 Riemann surfaces. We discuss the massless spectrum and the monodromies.

By exploiting standard facts about N = 1 and N = 2 supersymmetric YangMills theory, the Donaldson invariants of four-manifolds that admit a Kahler metric can be computed.
